The Avengers have been around for a long time and there are many different versions of the team. Most people know them from the MCU movies, but they first appeared in Marvel comics back in September 1963. As time progressed, Marvel has introduced some of the most insanely powerful characters in their universe and most of them tend to be an Avenger. So today we’re going to rank 10 of the most powerful avengers from Marvel comics! Stick around to find the strongest avenger in comics.

10 Most Powerful Avengers in Marvel Comics

Marvel has some of the diverse characters in their bank. Keep in mind that this list only consists of the strongest avengers from the Marvel comics, not considering the cinematic version. With that out of the way, let’s get started.

10. Red Hulk

Thunderbolt Ross was transformed into the Red Hulk by means of a blood transfusion from Bruce Banner. Ross has had some time to get used to his new powers, but every once in a while he still reverts back to Thunderbolt Ross when he becomes too angry.

Red Hulk is one of the strongest avengers in Marvel. He appeared in Avengers Vol. 4, issue #7 in 2011.

The Red Hulk is one of the strongest avengers in Marvel.  He appeared in Avengers Vol. IV, issue # VII during 2011. His tempered personality combined with the power to level buildings makes Red Hulk an important ally to the avengers and a formidable foe for the enemy. And he has been serving the team to date.

9. Blue Marvel

Adam Bernard Brashear aka Blue Marvel was first introduced in Blue Marvel #1 in November 2008. He has a lot in common with Superman, but he can also fly and shoot lightning bolts! Blue Marvel’s powers come from an alien device that was given to him by his father on Earth. The device allows him to harness antimatter which gives him superpowers like invulnerability, density control, and the ability to fly.

Blue Marvel has also taken on a leadership role for the Avengers in times of need, such as when he took over from Captain America in order to stop Zemo’s plan. He is one of Earth’s most powerful superheroes who can do anything that Superman could only wish he could!

8. Thor

Thor is an Asgardian and the son of Odin. He made an appearance as part of Fantastic Four #12 where he battled Storm Giants with his teammates from that year. Thor is also easily one of, if not the most powerful Avengers on Earth because he was born with god-like powers (strength, durability, flight). His hammer Mjolnir allows him to control elemental forces like air currents or tides.

In Marvel Comics continuity, there have only been two beings who can match Thor in power: Hulk and Adam Warlock when it comes to physical might. This means his strength is unmatched by any other character besides those two.

Thor wields a magical hammer called Mjölnir that grants him various abilities including shooting lightning bolts, weather manipulation, and time travel.

His popularity peaked around 1962 when his comic book sold over 300 million copies worldwide making him one of the best-selling comics of all time.

7. Hercules

Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, Hercules is the son of Zeus. He was introduced in Journey into Mystery #113 (1965). His powers are strength and stamina and he has an immunity to magic spells but can’t be healed by magical means.

Hercules is an Avenger but he also belongs to a group of heroes called the God Squad. He’s got some pretty strong powers, considering his father was Zeus and can take on most opponents with little effort. His only weakness seems to be that he cannot heal naturally; magic spells just bounce off him without doing any damage or healing him whatsoever!

Despite being introduced in 1965 (more than 50 years ago) Herc has only been an Avenger for six years. He joined the avengers in 2012 comic, “Avengers Assemble” issue number 12, and has been with the team to date.

6. Hyperion

Hyperion is a very powerful character in Marvel comics. He has cosmic awareness which means that he can sense everything happening on Earth and the universe as well. His power comes from absorbing photons of light to turbo-charge his abilities, making him very difficult for most enemies to take down because it takes time to recharge after each fight!

Hyperion also possesses superhuman strength, speed, reflexes, agility, and durability. His vision extends into the x-ray spectrum so he can see all objects with heat signatures even through lead or concrete walls! To top things off, he does not age normally like humans do but instead slows the aging process by up to 100 years per hour when exposed to radiation in space!!

Hyperion has been an avenger since 2012, participating in many missions with the team while being a dependable ally. He has been romantically involved with another avenger, Ms. Marvel, and has a son with her.

5. Hulk

Hulk is one of Marvel’s strongest characters with an immense superhuman ability that no other Avenger possesses. He gains superhuman levels when he becomes angry as Bruce Banner, but also has the potential to increase in power if angered further.

Hulk was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in May 1962. His debut appearance was in Incredible Hulk #102 (May 1962).

Hulk’s strength level can be calculated by his weight and height. He is able to lift roughly 100 tons at maximum, he has an extreme upper limit of around 1250 tons. His brute force alone could match Thor’s Mjölnir hammer blow for blow. That is some sheer strength!

In Comics, Hulk has been with the avengers since he became one himself. He has been a reliable companion for the team and has been on many missions with them. He was also an Avenger in the 2012’s movie and had a substantial role, which led to him becoming one of the most famous avengers.

4. Sentry

Power of a million exploding sun, Sentry is able to go toe-to-toe with the most powerful beings in Marvel comics. He possesses more power than any other Avenger, and he’s often referred to as Earth’s strongest hero.

He has powers like flight, super strength, and speed and on top of that, he is immortal. He can also fly faster than light to see what’s happening in other galaxies as well as past events on Earth. Sentry’s most powerful ability is his Omega Beams, which are beams of energy that can dish out destruction on a planetary scale.

Sentry first appeared in 2000 and was created by Paul Jenkins and Jae Lee. Blooming with the popularity, he became a part of the Avengers very quickly.

Sentry also has a darker side, Void. Void is an entity that lives inside Sentry’s head and fights for control of their body. And we found in “King in Black” that it is the avatar of symbiote king Knull himself.

3. Doctor Strange

Steven Strange aka the Sorcerer Supreme is one of the most powerful characters in Marvel comics. He has been around since before Bruce Banner became The Hulk and he is totally awesome with magic!

Appeared in Strange Tales #110 in 1963, Doctor Strange is one of Marvel’s most popular characters. He has also been a part of the Avengers, Defenders, and Fantastic Four teams throughout his career!

Doctor Strange is best known for his abilities in magic which he uses to fight against supernatural enemies as well other villains like Dormammu. He can create spells that are nearly indestructible, fly or manipulate time and space.

Strange has also been shown to be able to cast spells that can warp reality, create a new universe from scratch, speak with the dead, change his appearance at will, and even project his astral form across dimensions. All in all, he is not someone you want to be messing around with.

2. Star Brand

Jack Kirby created Star Brand in August 1976. The first appearance of this powerful hero was published in “Marvel Premiere” #54 (1976).

A cosmic being known as the Creator grants a welder named Ken Connell the incredible powers that allow him to do virtually anything imaginable. The Star Brand of power is a gift that Ken can voluntarily give away, or it will be taken from him by the council created by the Creator for this purpose.

But what’s the most interesting is that there are other Star Brands across the galaxy. The power of this character is virtually limitless and the wielder is immortal till the power is in him.

Star Brand became an avenger  in the Marvel comics universe in July 1991, when he joined with several other cosmic-powered beings to form a team called “New Warriors.”

The Star Brand possesses some of the most powerful abilities and its power is unlimited. But this character has often been used as a villain by writers who want him to do something evil or irresponsible.

1. Scarlet Witch

Was there any surprise?
Scarlet Witch aka Wanda Maximoff is arguably the most powerful Avenger in Marvel comics. Her personality can be best described as headstrong, strong-willed, and independent She is virtually omnipotent and even has the powers to defeat the phoenix force itself.

Wanda has a wide range of powers including mind control, telekinesis, matter manipulation, cosmic awareness, the resurrection of the dead, astral projection, and more! But what makes her the best and most powerful is her ability to warp reality. She even killed 97% of mutants just by saying “No More Mutants”. Yes! just three words. That’s the reason she is considered the strongest avengers of all time.

Scarlet Witch has been on the Avengers team since her introduction in 1964. She is most often seen with Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America as they are close friends. But she also works well with other members like Black Widow, Vision, Wasp, and Yellowjacket to name a few!

There are over 300 avengers in the marvel universe. But not all of them match the sheer power of these characters. So, which avenger is the strongest? Who do you think are the most powerful avengers? Let’s see your list.
